Questions About Your Washing Line

These are some examples of the questions we are asking visitors to Domestic Dialogues to think about:
Do you hang out your laundry according to size? Colour? Kind? Does it matter? How many pegs do you use to hang out a duvet cover? What kind of clothes pegs do you use? Do you hang socks by the toes? In pairs? What are your childhood memories - did you pester your mother for pegs to make tents?

Domestic Dialogues

Welcome to the Weblog for Domestic Dialogues, an art project that comprises three art events created by Roxane Permar and Susan Timmins. These will take place over the next month. The first one took place yesterday at The New Art Studio, Mungies Waater, Papal, Burra Isle in Shetland, the second will be part of Dialogi, the 8th International Biennale of Contemporary Art at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in St Petersburg, Russia and the third will be back in Burra at The Smuggins for the launch of The Claesline Gallery.

At these events we are asking the public to participate in Domestic Dialogues by making and receiving gifts - felt roses - and by exchanging messages on the topic of clotheslines. We are inviting everyone to use special gift tags we have made to share their memories and their opinions about hanging out laundry, about clotheslines and clothes pegs.
